- Great Smoky Mountain National Park
Naturally one of our favorite activities include the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as it is the country’s most visited national park! The areas boast some of the most beautiful mountains filled with diverse plant and animal life. The most popular Cade’s Cove is a valley surrounded by Mountains that features an 11 mile one way loop that gives tourists the opportunity to see what the Great Smoky Mountain National Park has to offer from their vehicle. However, it’s important to note that prior to 10 AM on Wednesday and Saturday, from May through September only Bicycle and Foot traffic are permitted.
Hiking can also be enjoyed throughout the year. Some of the more traversed trails are Alum Cave Bluffs, Andrews Bald, Rainbow Falls, Chimney Tops and Charlies Bunion.
- Scenic Overlook of Gatlinburg
Stunning, breath-taking views of Gatlinburg can be seen from the Gatlinburg Scenic Overlook which is a pull-off area on the Gatlinburg Bypass. Many photographers enjoy this overlook as it guarantees the perfect shot of the Great Smoky Mountains that enclose Gatlinburg.
- Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies
An attraction in Gatlinburg that children and adults enjoy alike. The Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies has massive displays of tropical fish and sharks as well as a penguin exhibit. You’ll have the opportunity to pet bat rays.
- Aerial Tramway – Ober Gatlinburg
There is a reason they say, “For the Best Views of the Smokies”. This Aerial Tramway will take you on a 2.1 mile ride up a mountain to the Amusement Park & Ski Area which features the Ski Mountain Coaster, Ice Skating, Wildlife Encounter, skiing, snowboarding & snow Tubing (seasonal).
- Gatlinburg Skylift
This skylift began in the 1950’s and has been carrying tourists to the top of Crockett Mountain since. The ride only takes about five minutes or so to bring you to the top of the 1,800 foot mountain. The ride to the top gives you some time to enjoy the views and soak in all Gatlinburg has to offer. At the top you will find a gift shop, refreshments and a resting area.
To vacation in Gatlinburg (or Pigeon Forge) comes with the intent to escape from the everyday hustle and bustle, taking time to relax and enjoy what will feel like home away from home. As it seems with every vacation there inevitably is something that always goes wrong.
